With an overwhelming majority, the Israeli parliament (Knesset) approved on Tuesday the US-brokered normalization deal with Bahrain, according to Reuters.

62 lawmakers voted in favour of the agreement, while 14 others opposed.

Addressing the Knesset after voting, Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu expected more regional countries to establish relations with Israel.

“(The) buds of normalisation are already out there, waiting to blossom. If we pursue the policy I crafted, I am convinced that the flowering will be witnessed in the open,” Netanyahu said.

On his part, Knesset spokesman said that the parliament approved the joint agreement regarding the establishment of diplomatic ties, peace and friendship between the State of Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

It is worth mentioning that, last August, UAE became the first Arab nation to normalize relations with Israel since Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994, followed by Bahrain.
