"King Richard" Gets Digital Release

The acclaimed biopic drama "King Richard" will receive multiple at-home viewing release dates.

The movie will be available for premium digital ownership on January 4 and released in 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 8.

The movie is based on the life of Richard Williams, the father of two of the greatest athletes in the world, Venus and Serena Williams, who was bound and determined to usher his daughters into greatness through constant coaching, determination, and a powerful familial bond.

The heartwarming story has so far garnered twenty-one separate award wins.

The 4K and Blu-ray editions will feature several deleted scenes, featurettes, and other behind-the-scenes looks.

The footages feature interviews with Smith and other members of the movie discussing how the actor came to embody the title role and how he channeled his own experience as a father when interacting with Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton, who portrayed Venus and Serena.

Other features cover the depiction of the Williams sisters in the movie.

 

“King Richard” will also star Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Bernthal, Tony Goldwyn, and Dylan McDermott.

The movie is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and scripted by Zach Baylin.

Smith is producing the movie under his Westbrook production company, while Tim White and Trevor White via their Star Thrower Entertainment company.

The Williams sisters exec produced the project along with their sister Isha Price. It will also be executive produced by James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith, Adam Merims, Lynn Harris, Allan Mandelbaum, Jon Mone, and Peter Dodd.
