American media personality Kim Kardashian next major movie role has landed at Netflix.
As previously announced, the reality TV superstar turned budding actress will lead the ensemble comedy movie "The Fifth Wheel", which landed at Netflix in a competitive situation.
It is scripted by longtime Saturday Night Live writer Paula Pell and Janine Brito (One Day at a Time).
Pell will produce with Kardashian, and Deadline hears that multiple bids are already on the table, as five studios battle for the package.
Kardashian has been closely involved in the pitch for the female-driven comedy, appearing at each meeting to deliver the pitch and the studios are lining up to get in business with Kardashian.
While plot details are kept under wraps, Kardashian will play the eponymous “fifth wheel” alongside a female ensemble cast. (The rest of the cast has yet to be announced.) Kardashian and Pell will also produce.
The new role comes after she starred in the most recent season of FX's "American Horror Story", in which she played a publicist named Siobhan who works for Emma Roberts's actress character Anna Victoria Alcott. Her role as a publicist earned her strong notices.
In addition to an appearance as herself in 2018's "Ocean's Eight", Kardashian also lent her voice to the character Delores in the two recent animated PAW Patrol movies.
"The Fifth Wheel" was pursued by several studios, including those that were considering a theatrical release, and it has become one of the first big packages to land at a studio following the months-long SAG strike.
During the strike, the streamer picked up several finished films, including Toronto Film Festival titles Hit Man, from director Richard Linklater and starring Top Gun actor Glen Powell, and Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut, Woman of the Hour.
