American comedian Kevin Hart was set to perform live in Egypt for the first time on Tuesday as part of his world tour "Reality Check".
Hart was slated to deliver a comedy show at Cairo Stadium on February 21. The event was organized by R Productions.
R Productions announced on Monday the cancellation of the show due to local logistical issues.
Some commentators saw the decision as a victory for social media that proved its capability of bringing about change.
The show was announced months ago and was hit by boycott campaigns over alleged claims he made that the kings of ancient Egypt were “black Africans”.
Hart had allegedly said in an interview: “We must teach our children the true history of black Africans when they were kings in Egypt and not just the era of slavery that is cemented by education in America. Do you remember the time when we were kings?”
It is not clear, however, when and where Hart made these remarks.
The Emmy and Grammy-nominated Comedian has not addressed the controversy publicly.
Hart is one of the top three Comedians of all time and is known for his gold-standard stand-up material,
He is also a hugely popular actor with eleven movies reaching the box office number one and grossing more than $ 4.23 billion. Hart has also earned Emmy nominations for “Die Hart” for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.
Hart is also a New York Times Best Selling author twice over and his first Audible original, “The Decision”, was nominated for an Audie award for “Best Original Audiobook in 2021.”
