Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is no longer developing a Star Wars feature to produce and is moving on to other things as he focuses on the dozens of films and TV shows on his plate in the MCU.

When asked if his Star Wars feature was happening, he told Entertainment Tonight simply: “No.”

In 2019, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Feige was developing the project, and in January 2021, news broke that he had hired Loki creator Michael Waldron to pen the script.

The landscape looked different when Feige first met with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy and then Disney studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman.

The Rise of Skywalker had not yet hit theaters, and The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda had not yet powered Disney+ in its early days.

“I love that world and I love the notion of exploring new people and new places in that universe,” Feige told The Hollywood Reporter that year.

Lucasfilm has developed a number of big screen projects over the years, though many have fallen by the wayside, including a trilogy to be written by Game of Thrones‘s David Benioff and DB Weiss, and a Patty Jenkins-directed Rogue Squandron.

Feige’s project now joins those ranks. Lucasfilm is moving forward with a feature starring Rise of Skywalker‘s "Daisy Ridley", to be directed by Ms. Marvel‘s Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Also in the works are features from Mandalorian‘s Dave Filoni as well as James Mangold.
