Cassie Lang will return in Marvel’s next big superhero extravaganza, “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Kathryn Newton announced on Instagram on Friday that she is one of the half of SAG-AFTRA’s membership who will be in the hotly anticipated sequel.
The actress, last seen in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is back to help the MCU gang save the world from Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.
Newton revealed her return in a tongue-in-cheek fashion on Instagram, unpacking a box that had a director’s chair with her name on the back of it and the film’s logo on front.
It’s a sly nod to the way that Marvel announced all of the heroes and villains who will be returning for the sequel.
“[It’s] tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny,” Newton exclaimed in a video.
The likely means that Cassie will be following in the miniature steps of her dad, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd).
Truthfully, this come as no surprise as Marvel debuted the trailer at CinemaCon on Thursday, including a shot of Scott/Ant-Man kissing his daughter on the head.
Cassie will have plenty of company. Alongside her dad, returning heroes and villains include Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Panther (Letitia Wright), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Gambit (Channing Tatum).
Joe and Anthony Russo, the brothers behind “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” return to direct the sequel.
Newton most recently appeared in “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come,” “Griffin in Summer” and “Lisa Frankenstein.”
She is the third actress to play Cassie Lang. Abby Ryder Fortson portrayed her as a child in “Ant-Man” (2015) and “Ant-Man and the Wasp” (2018), and Emma Fuhrmann played teenage Cassie in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.”
