Production preparation for Egyptian actor Karim Fahmy's film "Dmagh Almaz", which he had penned two years ago, is underway.
On the other hand, the actor is set to topline the long-awaited sequel to “Hepta: The Last Lecture”.
The pic stars Mohamed Mamdouh, Menna Shalaby, Salma Abu Deif, Asmaa Galal, Karim Kassem, Mayan El Sayed, and Hassan Malek.
Prominent director Hady El Bagory and screenwriter Mohamed Sadek reunited for a sequel. The script is penned from a story by Sadek, who co-wrote the pic alongside Mohamed Galal.
Principal photography is underway.
The original Hepta film was based on Sadek’s best-selling novel of the same title and revolved around the seven stages of love through four stories. The novel topped the charts in Egypt and the Arab world for several weeks.
El Bagory directed the pic from a script by Sadek and Wael Hamdy. It had achieved great success at the time of its debut in 2016.
The film’s revenues topped the Egyptian box office, which exceeded EGP 52 million, becoming the highest-grossing romance film in the history of Egyptian cinema.
“Hepta: The Last Lecture” won more than 20 awards, including 10 awards. It was also screened at the Malmö Arab Film Festival, the Arab Camera Festival in Rotterdam, the Cairo International Film Festival, the Mediterranean Film Festival of Annaba (FAFM), and the Arab Cinema Week in New York.
Fahmy, born on December 4, 1982, graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry in Cairo and began in the entertainment industry in 2010.
He made his acting debut in the TV series “Ard Khas” (Special Screening), playing his real character: a dentist dreaming of becoming an actor and leaving his job to pursue his dream.
Fahmy has also penned the script of films such as “Bebo we Basher” (2011), “Mr. and Mrs. Oweis” (2012), and “Hatouli Ragel” (2013).
