Renowned Egyptian artist Karim Abdel Malak is set to unveil his latest exhibition, Wisal, at Safar Khan Gallery in Zamalek, Cairo, on January 4, 2025.
This highly anticipated show will feature 16 works, including 14 canvas paintings and two metal sculptures, offering a unique blend of visual art and poetry. The exhibition runs until January 28.
In Wisal, Abdel Malak explores spiritual and emotional connections, incorporating verses and quotes from iconic poets and mystics such as Al-Mutanabbi, Khalil Gibran, Al-Hallaj, and Ibrahim Nagi into his artworks.
This approach creates a rich interplay between the visual and literary arts, adding layers of meaning to each piece. Abdel Malak’s innovative use of canvas painting, a technique he is showcasing for the first time, highlights his commitment to pushing artistic boundaries.
The exhibition’s title, Wisal, which translates to “connection,” embodies themes of unity, spirituality, and self-discovery. Abdel Malak describes the word as reflecting the connection between individuals and their Creator, as well as bonds with loved ones and the importance of introspection. These themes resonate throughout the exhibition, inviting viewers to reflect on their own relationships and inner lives.
