Karim Abdel Aziz to Collab with Nelly Karim in Play "Sinbad"

Egyptian actor Karim Abdel Aziz is collaborating once again with his longtime collaborator Nelly Karim in his new play "Sinbad".

The play is scheduled to make its debut in December, within the activities of Riyadh season, in Saudi Arabia.

It marks Abdel Aziz's first theatrical performance in a two-decade absence and the second of his career.

The play's official synopsis reads: "While Omar abo alhoul is escaping from almalem Senussi, he hides in an old cemetery in which he finds a chain that takes him back to the time of Sinbad. Omar assumes his character as if he were Sinbad returning from his last journey in which he disappeared many years ago. Omar lives the life of Sinbad and his adventures and heroism until he discovers the secret of returning to his current time, but this adventure You have changed a lot in Omar. Is it preferable to stay in the age of Sinbad or return Omar abo alhoul?."

"Sinbad" is set to be staged at the Baker Alshadi in Lounge B, on December 18.

It is set to be staged at the Riyadh Season 2023 in Saudi Arabia. The 4th edition of the Riyadh Season is held under the slogan of "Big Time" and will kick off on October 28.

Abdel Aziz made his stage debut in the 2001 play "Hakiem Oyon". 

It also starred late comedian legend Alaa Waley El-Din as well as Ahmed Helmy,  Hagag Abdel Azim,  Monaliza,  Mariam Noah, and more. The play was scripted by Ahmad Abdallah and directed by Hani Motawea.

On the other hand, Abdel Aziz is planning to participate in the 2023 Ramadan drama marathon with the highly-anticipated TV series “Al-Hashashin”.

The series also stars Fathy Abdel Wahab, Myrna Noureldin, Ahmed Eid, Eslam Gamal, Nicolas Mouawad, Yasser Ali Maher, Nour Ehab, Omar El Shenawy, and Suzan Najm Aldeen.

The big-budget series was set to screen during the holy month of Ramadan but got postponed to Ramadan 2024 due to the tight schedule and filming time as well as the shooting taking place in several countries abroad.

Abdel Aziz is collaborating with screenwriter Abdel Rahim Kamal and director Peter Mimi on the historical project.

The project takes place in the 11th century and sees the actor playing Hassan Al-Sabbah, the founder of Al-Hashashin.

Al-Hashashin was a sect of assassins that operated between 1090 and 1275 CE.

During that time, they lived in the mountains of Persia and Syria and the covert murder of leaders who were considered enemies of the Nizārī Ismāʿīlī State.

Abdel Aziz and Mimi last collaborated in the third season of the acclaimed TV series “El Ekhteyar” (The Choice).
