American rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has pulled out of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which kicks off on April 15.

He was expected to headline the festival's closing night of each weekend on April 17 and April 24.

The event is set to take place April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. The Festival will be making its return for the first time since 2019. It was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Other notable names on the lineup include a reunion of EDM supergroup Swedish House Mafia, Megan Thee Stallion, Disclosure, Danny Elfman, Louis the Child, Doja Cat, Stromae, Giveon, Anitta and more.

Earlier this year, West threatened to pull out of the festival after demanding fellow headliner Billie Eilish apologize to Travis Scott for what he described as a diss toward Scott.

That beef began when Eilish stopped a show in Atlanta to ask her crew to get an inhaler for a fan who had a  breathing problem in front of the stage.

She said at the time, “I wait for people to be OK before I keep going”, which some perceived to be a diss aimed at Scott after ten people died at his Astroworld festival in Houston in November 2021.

Eilish did not issue an apology to Scott. “Literally never said a thing about Travis. Was just helping a fan,” she said in response to the criticism.

West has been in the news several times in the past several months, much of which involved online attacks on his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her new partner Pete Davidson following Kardashian’s porce from West.

The rapper told Kardashian he “was going away to get help” and would not be “making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements.”
