Under the title “Writings Through the Ages”, the Kafr El-Sheikh Museum organized a temporary archaeological exhibition to shed light on the origins of writing in ancient Egypt and its development through the ages.

It is held as a part of the celebration of International Literacy Day, which falls annually on September 8.

The exhibition, which continues until October 15, displays eight paintings with written texts in different languages that were found in ancient Egypt.

The most prominent displayed pieces are a scribe's tablet made of wood with recesses to store the ink, an irregularly shaped stone block with hieratic writing, a rectangular bronze seal with two lines of Latin letters, and a broken limestone with ancient Greek language.

Kafr El-Sheikh Museum is the window that sheds light on the cultural and civilizational heritage of Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, as it is one of the most important governorates of Lower Egypt from an archaeological standpoint.

The governorate contains many archaeological sites dating to various eras, the most prominent of which are the cities of Buto and Sakha.
