The Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, Engineer Ibrahim Makkai, inspected a number of historic mosques in the city of Fuwwah on Tuesday to assess their condition, monitor preservation efforts, and highlight their historical and tourism value. The inspection tour was attended by Dr. Amr El-Beshbishy, Deputy Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, Major General Mohamed Shawky Badr, the Secretary-General, Mohamed Daboun, Head of the Fuwwah Center and City, alongside several executive leaders.

During the tour, the Governor visited several prominent religious and historical landmarks in Fuwwah, which is recognized as one of the most significant Islamic heritage cities in Egypt. These landmarks included the mosques of Sidi Abdel-Rahim Al-Qenawi, Abu Al-Makarim, Al-Sada Al-Seba’a, Al-Kouraniya, Al-Omari, and Abu Al-Najah. A number of these sites have undergone development, restoration, and maintenance over the past years to preserve their authentic architectural character and unique archaeological value.

The Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh emphasized that the city of Fuwwah possesses a vast wealth of Islamic antiquities and historic mosques that reflect the city's ancient roots and cultural status throughout the ages. He noted that the governorate places a special emphasis on preserving these landmarks in coordination with relevant authorities to bolster tourism and promote the city's rich history.

Furthermore, the Governor highlighted that the Egyptian state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, attaches great importance to preserving and developing historical and heritage sites. This ensures their sustainability for future generations and leverages them to stimulate cultural and religious tourism.

The Governor also pointed out that Fuwwah serves as an open-air museum of Islamic antiquities, housing an array of historic mosques, buildings, domes, water fountains (sabils), and historical inns (wakalas) that hold unique cultural value. He stressed the vital importance of continuing maintenance and restoration works while safeguarding the distinctive architectural style of these locations.

Concluding his tour, the Governor underscored the necessity of unifying efforts to protect the city's cultural and historical heritage and to enhance awareness of these monuments among younger generations, thereby highlighting Fuwwah's position as one of the most prominent heritage cities across the republic.
