At the age of 25, Moonbin, a member of the South Korean band Astro, died at his home in Seoul, in a sudden departure that left behind a shock among K-Pop fans.
The death was confirmed in an official statement posted on the band's social media pages, which described the farewell as unexpected, and that Moonbin had become a star in the sky without mentioning the cause of death.
According to Korean newspapers and the police report, it is likely that it was a suicide, but investigations are still ongoing.
Moonbin worked as an actor and model before joining Astro in 2016, where he achieved fame as a K-pop singer.
Most recently, he had a new release earlier this year titled Madness with fellow sub-group Sanha.
The death of the young star brought to mind the frequent deaths of Korean art stars at an early age during the past years. The most prominent of them was the suicide of "SHINee" Jonghyun in 2017 and the suicide of young artist Goo Hara in 2019.
