Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You, Save the Last Dance) has unveiled the official trailer for "Wish You Were Here", her first feature behind the camera.
An adaptation of the bestseller by Renee Carlino, who adapted the screenplay with Stiles, "Wish You Were Here" tells the story of Charlotte, a woman who finds herself in a rut, searching for a spark that seems just out of reach. After she has a whirlwind night of romance and imagining a future with a man named Adam, he ghosts her. But when Charlotte finally discovers that Adam is terminally ill, she helps him spend his last days living life to the fullest.
Mena Massoud (Aladdin) and Isabelle Fuhrman (The Novice) lead the cast, which also includes Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man in San Francisco), Gabby Kono-Abdy (Baker’s Dozen), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing), and Kelsey Grammer (Cheers).
“Been looking for years for the right story to tell” as a director, and finally found it here. Wish You Were Here is a love story that explores what it means to be human, all the laughter and tears that remind us we are alive," Stiles said in a statement.
Pic’s producers included Molly Conners (Birdman, Frozen River), Amanda Bowers, Kono-Abdy, Rick Dugdale, Jane Sinisi and Siena Oberman. Gary Leff served as exec producer.
"Wish You Were Here" releases in theaters on January 17, and on digital on February 4, via Lionsgate.
