Fans who have been waiting long and patiently for "John Wick: Chapter 5" have finally been awarded for their patience.
Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski were confirmed as returning to the franchise last year, but so far, updates have been rare.
Speaking to Business Insider, Lionsgate chairman Adam Fogelson has provided an update on the hotly anticipated project.
He confirmed that Reeves and Stahelski have found a "core idea" for the new installment, adding that Chapter 5 wouldn't come out before the previously announced Caine-centred spin-off and the animated prequel.
"Chad and Keanu have an idea that they think can be really exciting," he said. "There are a lot of steps, so I wouldn't want to put a timeline on it. But in terms of finding a core idea, they seem to have landed on something that they are excited about, and now we'll see."
The Caine-centred spin-off was announced in 2024, with Donnie Yen returning as the blind assassin introduced in "John Wick: Chapter 4".
Yen directs the feature, which is based on an idea from Yen and Stahelski.
The script has been written by Robert Askins and Mattson Tomlin. Principal photography is underway.
Meanwhile, it was announced last year that the animated prequel movie will see Reeves voicing Wicks and will focus on the Impossible Task.
It will be directed by Shannon Tindle, written by Vanessa Taylor and co-produced by Stahelski.
"I’ve always been fascinated with anime. It has always been a huge influence on me, especially with the John Wick series," Stahelski previously said.
"To have the opportunity to develop a John Wick anime seems to be the perfect progression for the John Wick world, " he added. "I feel John Wick is the perfect property for this medium – anime holds the potential to expand our world, our characters, and our action in ways unimaginable before."
