Netflix has finally dated Joey King's dystopian sci-fi movie "The Uglies".
It is an adaptation of the 2005 novel Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, with the author taking to X to deliver the news.
The movie's journey to be developed has been hectic, the pic was filmed in 2021 and is now set to land on the screens on September 13.
Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the movie will retell the events of the first book, following 16-year-old Tally Youngblood (Played by King) as she gets ready to receive her cosmetic surgery operation to go from being an "Ugly" to a "Pretty".
Tally begins to question this protocol when she befriends Shay, another Ugly who she shares her birthday. Shay doesn't intend to ever become a Pretty and invites Tally to live free from constraints in a renegade settlement called the Smoke.
Meanwhile, Tally is tasked by the government to help them locate the rebels.
"The Uglies" is directed by McG from a script co-written by Jacob Forman, Vanessa Taylor, and Whit Anderson.
Alongside King, who also serves as an executive producer, the movie also stars Keith Powers, Brianne Tju, Chase Stokes, and Laverne Cox.
King was recently seen in Netflix rom-com movie "A Family Affair" opposite Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron.
The pic follows young personal assistant Zara who realises in horror that her boss, bratty movie star Chris (Efron), has started a relationship with her mother, Brooke (Kidman).
"The Uglies" will debut on Netflix on September 13.
