Emmy-nominated Jimmi Simpson has been cast as a new series regular opposite Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the upcoming third season of AMC‘s "The Walking Dead: Dead City".
Simpson will play Dillard, but details about the character are being kept under wraps.
Production on Season 3 is currently underway in Boston.
"The Walking Dead: Dead City" follows Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) as they travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, which has been cut off from the mainland for a long time.
In Season 2, in the growing war for control of Manhattan, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.
When the series was renewed for a third season, it was announced that franchise vet Seth Hoffman was taking over as showrunner.
Hoffman, Scott Gimple, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, Brian Bockrath, Colin Walsh, Cohan and Morgan executive produce.
Simpson currently stars in Apple’s "Dark Matter," which is heading into its second season.
He portrays multiple versions of brilliant neuroscientist Ryan Holder across different realities.
The Emmy-nominated actor also voices the character of Abaddon, a demon trapped in a young boy’s body, on Netflix’s "Haunted Hotel".
He was nominated for an Emmy for his role as William on "Westworld" and received a BAFTA TV Award nomination for his role as William in "Black Mirror," which he reprised in its sequel episode this year. Simpson also shared an Independent Spirit Award for Best Ensemble Cast for "Pachinko" in 2023.
