Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams are set to star in Taika Waititi’s next movie, Sony 3000’s "Klara and the Sun".
Waititi has been attached to the project since the spring, with the movie adapting the novel from "Remains of the Day" and "Never Let Me Go" author Kazuo Ishiguro.
Ortega has a full slate, having recently completed "Beetlejuice 2", and will film season two of Netflix's hit show "Wednesday" in the coming months. Her feature Miller’s Girl arrived in theaters on January 26.
Last year, she starred in "Scream VI", and made waves by opting not to return for a seventh installment of the Spyglass franchise.
Adams will next appear in Marielle Heller’s "Nightbitch" from Searchlight. She is a six-time Oscar nominee for roles in movies like "Vice", "The Fighter", and "Doubt".
Ishiguro published "Klara and the Sun" in 2021, with the novel narrated by AI in the form of a robot named Klara who is purchased by the family of a girl who suffers from a potentially fatal illness. Ortega will play the robot, while Adams will play a mother who purchases it for her teenager.
