Jeff Bridges, Allison Janney, and Jesse Eisenberg will lead the voice cast of “Minions & Monsters,” the latest “Despicable Me” spinoff.
They’ll be joined on the call sheet by Zoey Deutch, Christoph Waltz, Bobby Moynihan, and “South Park” co-creator Trey Parker.
"Minions & Monsters" serves as a prequel to 2010’s “Despicable Me” and sequel to 2022’s “Minions: The Rise of Gru".
The newest adventure is set in the world of 1920s Hollywood as the beloved, highlighter-yellow underlings work to find the lead of their monster movie. Described as “rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true,” the story follows how the Minions conquered the entertainment industry and became movie stars … only to lose everything and unleash monsters onto the world before (as everyone knows) they banded together to save the planet from their mayhem.
Universal and Illumination’s third “Minions” movie will be directed by Pierre Coffin, who helmed the first three “Despicable Me” films and first “Minions” installment. He also provides the voice of the Minions.
“Minions & Monsters” is slated to hit theaters on July 1. The film follows the blockbuster success of 2024’s “Despicable Me 4,” which earned $972 million globally.
Over 15 years, the franchise has generated over $5.6 billion at the worldwide box office to stand as the highest-grossing animated series.
