Hollywood star Jamie Foxx has not fully recovered after suffering from a mystery “medical complication” earlier this year.
“Jamie is doing so much better and he’s starting to feel like himself again. He’s not 100 percent and is still taking things easy, but he’s definitely on the road to recovery,” a source told Us Weekly.
The insider added that the Oscar winner, 55, is helped by a “huge support system around him and his friends and family are making sure that he doesn’t take on too much.”
Foxx is “feeling really good and is excited to get back to work once the time is right,” the source added.
Foxx was admitted to an Atlanta hospital in April after facing a medical complication. His daughter, Corinne Foxx, revealed he experienced a medical complication and is recovering.
“We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery", she said.
"We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
Foxx later released a personal statement thanking fans for their “love” and assuring them that he was “feeling blessed” amid his recovery. Details surrounding Foxx’s condition have been sparse in the weeks since, though his daughter shared that he had been “recuperating” and “playing pickleball” in late May.
At the time of his hospitalization, the Academy Award winner was in Atlanta, Georgia, filming an upcoming Netflix comedy movie “Back in Action” alongside Cameron Diaz, who came “out of retirement” for the project, her first in almost a decade.
The project is being directed by “Horrible Bosses” helmer Seth Gordon. Production on “Back in Action” continued with stand-ins and body doubles for Foxx, and has reportedly wrapped.
Foxx is also the host and executive producer of the Fox game show “Beat Shazam,” which launched in 2017. The sixth season premiered in May with Nick Cannon taking over guest hosting duties due to Foxx’s hospitalization. Both Jamie and Corinne Foxx are set to co-host “We Are Family”, a new music-themed game show set to debut on Fox in 2024.
Over the July 4 weekend, Foxx was seen sailing aboard a boat down the Chicago River to promote his alcohol brand, Brown Sugar Bourbon.
“Boat life 🦊 Celebrating summer with @brownsugarbbn,” he tweeted, marking the first time he’s sent a message on the platform since his mystery illness. “Stay blessed!”
Foxx — who is also dad to daughter Annalise, 14 — was also spotted at a Topgolf driving range in Naperville, Ill., where an eyewitness said he had a “strong” swing.
“He was walking regular, not dragging his leg,” an eyewitness shared with TMZ last week. “His arm movement were definitely good. He was just regular Jamie.”
Additionally, the “Annie” actor even played Good Samaritan, returning a woman’s lost purse in Chicago. The woman’s son shared a video of the exchange online.
“Mom lost her bag in Chicago today Jamie fox [sic] found it and brought it to her and he said he feels good y’all god is good 🙏🏾,” the fan captioned the video on Instagram on July 10.
In the clip, Foxx can be seen getting back into a black SUV after handing off the purse and departing with a “hang loose” hand signal.
