James McAvoy is set to star in a Sky TV adaptation of comedian Frankie Boyle’s novel "Meantime."
Benedict Wong, Mark Bonnar, and Christopher Eccleston are also attached to star in the project.
The series synopsis reads: "Felix McAveety (McAvoy), a full-time addict whose best friend is found murdered in a Glasgow park, leaving him as the police’s most convenient suspect. In a fog of intoxication and paranoia, Felix sets out to clear his name, enlisting the help of an ageing former Detective Inspector turned crime novelist (Josette Simon) and a chaotic friend (Jamie Michie)."
Boyle, a well-known comedy face on British screens, is adapting the novel with Neil Webster for Happy Tramp North and Expectation in association with Sky Studios.
The show comes after Sky adapted Nick Cave’s novel The Death of Bunny Munro with Matt Smith playing the lead.
It will be discussed at a Sky event in London on Wednesday. The series is directed by Jon S. Baird and produced by Eric Coulter.
Executive producers are Boyle and Webster for Happy Tramp North, Nerys Evans for Expectation, Alex Moody for Sky, McAvoy, Baird, and Eric Coulter.
