Scottish actor James McAvoy has signed on to star in the high-concept action thriller movie "Control".
The movie is directed by "Red" helmer Robert Schwentke and backed by Studiocanal and The Picture Company. It is adapted from the award-winning podcast Shipworm by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie.
"Control" is a tense ticking-clock thriller centered around a doctor who awakens one morning with an untraceable device planted in his head. He must follow a mysterious voice’s instructions or devastating consequences will unfold.

The project puts McAvoy back in action mode, where he has shone in movies "Wanted" and the X-Men franchise, and Night Shyamalan’s "Split" and its sequel "Glass".
The "X-Men" actor most recently starred in the third and final season of the BBC/HBO TV Series "His Dark Materials" reprising his role as Lord Asriel alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ruth Wilson.
In 2022, he returned to the stage to perform in the critically acclaimed and Laurence Olivier Award-nominated Cyrano de Bergerac with director Jamie Lloyd.
McAvoy is most known for his performances on screen in "Atonement", "The Last King of Scotland", "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" and his role as Charles Xavier in the X-men franchise.
