A slew of more than 200 voices, ranging from young newcomers to Hollywood A-listers, will bring new life to all seven of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” book series in a new production for Audible.

The first audiobook in the bunch, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” is dropping in November.

The launch of the audiobooks comes as HBO’s production of a separate TV adaptation of Rowling’s immensely popular fantasy series has commenced in the U.K.

Audible and Rowling’s Pottermore Publishing casting for “Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions” was completed in early 2025 and production is nearly wrapped, with more than 2,000 recording hours logged to date to create what Audible says are “unabridged editions” of the original Rowling books.

The project, announced in April 2024, promises an “immersive audio entertainment experience” featuring an all-new score and original music plus “high-quality sound design” and “real-world sound capture.”

The cast is led by Hugh Laurie (“House”), who voices Albus Dumbledore, with Matthew Macfadyen (“Succession”) as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed (“Sound of Metal”) as Professor Snape and Michelle Gomez (“Doctor Who”) as Professor McGonagall. Cush Jumbo (“The Good Fight”) lends her voice as the narrator for the seven-book series.

Mark Addy will play Hagrid, Alex Hassell as Lucius Malfoy, Daniel Mays as Dobby, and Sara and Avni Deshmukh as the Patil Twins.

Young actors Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester and Arabella Stanton will play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger respectively in audiobooks 1-3.

Stanton is also playing Hermione in HBO’s “Harry Potter” TV series, which is currently in production in the U.K.

Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan and Nina Barker-Francis will assume the golden trio roles in audiobooks 4-7.

Kit Harington will play Professor Lockhart; Keira Knightley as Professor Umbridge; Iwan Rheon as Professor Lupin; Ruth Wilson as Bellatrix Lestrange; Ambika Mod as Nymphadora Tonks; Leo Woodall as Bill Weasley; Simon Pegg as Arthur Weasley; James McAvoy as Mad-Eye Moody; Gemma Whelan as Professor Sprout; and Matt Berry as Sir Cadogan.

Additional casting for the Harry Potter audiobooks will be announced this fall.

The first audiobook, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2025, exclusively on Audible, with each of the remaining six English-language audiobooks releasing monthly worldwide.

Following “Sorcerer’s Stone” in November, Audible-Pottermore’s release schedule for the rest of the series is as follows:

  • “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” December 16
  • “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” January 13, 2026
  • “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” February 10, 2026
  • “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” March 10, 2026
  • “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” April 14, 2026
  • “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” May 12, 2026.

The titles can be preordered on Audible.
