BTS‘ J-hope has delivered his latest piece of art, "Mona Lisa" on Friday.
In an announcement on Weverse, the singer's legal, BIG HIT, described the track as, “a hip-hop and R&B track that celebrates a captivating person by playfully comparing them to the iconic masterpiece ‘Mona Lisa,’ which has charmed the world for centuries. Through this song, J-Hope conveys that true allure lies not in one’s external beauty but in the unique qualities that make the person special.”
The digital single is further described as a “heartfelt surprise gift” from J-hope to his fans in appreciation of their “unwavering love and support.” All he asks in return for his gratitude is for ARMY to kindly offer up their “enthusiastic support and interest in j-hope’s future endeavors.”
The K-pop idol rolled out the debut live performance of “Mona Lisa” during his debut U.S. solo concert at the Barclays Center in New York last Thursday during the first date of his Hope on the Stage tour.
“Mona Lisa” is the follow-up to J-Hope's recently released digital single “Sweet Dreams" with Miguel.
The new music also marks the superstar’s first release since his March 2024 six-track EP "Hope on the Street Vol. 1", which featured collabs with his BTS bandmate Jungkook on “I Wonder,” as well as Benny Blanco and Nile Rodgers on “Lock/Unlock” and Le Sserafim’s Huh Yunjin on “I Don’t Know.”
