Italy Becomes Egypt's Largest EU Export Market with $477.1 Million in Shipments

Italy emerged as the largest European destination for Egyptian exports in April 2026, with the value of shipments reaching $477.1 million, according to foreign trade data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Egyptian exports to Italy increased from $303.9 million in April 2025, marking annual growth of 57% and an increase of $173.2 million.

The report showed that fuels, mineral oils, and distillation products led Egypt's exports to the Italian market, reaching $235.1 million and accounting for the largest share of shipments. They were followed by aluminum and its products at $60 million, and plastics and plastic products at approximately $46.6 million.

Despite the strong overall performance, some export categories recorded declines during April. Egyptian fertilizer exports to Italy fell 28.3% to $9.8 million, while exports of vegetables and plants decreased 19.3% to $4.6 million.

The results reinforced Italy's position as Egypt's largest export market in Western Europe, accounting for a significant portion of Egyptian shipments to the region, which totaled approximately $1.59 billion in April 2026.

Italy represented around 9.4% of Egypt's total exports among the country's five largest export destinations during the month, maintaining its status as one of Egypt's most important trading partners in European markets.
