The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced on Tuesday an increase in local currency deposits during the month of October, to record about EGP 5.254 trillion, compared to EGP 5.253 trillion a month earlier.
Demand deposits amounted to EGP 855 billion at the end of October, compared to EGP 887 at the end of September.
Public sector deposits amounted to EGP 55.4 billion at the end of October, while private sector deposits amounted to EGP 54.7 billion at the end of October.
CBE revealed an increase in the volume of deposits in foreign currency during the month of October to record about EGP 1.121 trillion compared to about EGP 898.572 billion at the end of September.
The data showed that demand deposits in foreign currency recorded EGP 300.447 billion at the end of October, compared to EGP 245.167 billion, a month earlier.
Time deposits and certificates of saving in foreign currency amounted to EGP 820.708 billion at the end of October, compared to EGP 653.405 billion at the end of September.
