Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue

Lieut. –Gen. Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, announced today, Tuesday, that the navigation statistics in the canal during the month of July 2022 set new records, achieving the highest monthly transit rate in the history of the canal, amounting to 2,103 ships, and the highest monthly net tonnage in the history of the canal 125.1 million tons, which was reflected on the channel's revenues increased to record the highest monthly revenue in its history, reaching $704 million.

The head of the authority explained that the navigation movement in the canal during the month of July 2022 witnessed the transit of 2103 ships from both directions compared to the crossing of 1670 ships during the month of July last year, a difference of 433 ships, an increase of 25.9%, and the total net tonnages amounted to 125.1 million tons compared to 105.8 million tons during the month July last year, a difference of 19.3 million tons, an increase of 18.2%.

 

Lieut. –Gen. Rabie added that the Suez Canal revenues during last  July amounted to $704 million, compared to $531.8 million in July of last year, a difference of $172.2 million, an increase of 32.4 percent.
