Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, through the General Authority for Tourism Promotion, in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Cairo, will organize the Italian Teatro San Carlo di Napoli performance at Giza Pyramids on the 11th of October.
The announcement of the concert came during an event hosted by the Italian Embassy in Cairo and attended by Amr Al-Qadi, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Italian Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Michele Quaroni, and a number of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion members, as well as diplomatic and public figures.
It will be the first time for the Teatro San Carlo Opera House troupe to perform in Egypt and their first international tour since the Coronavirus pandemic, according to the announcement.
In his address, the CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion commended the bilateral relations between Egypt and Italy in a number of fields, including tourism and antiquities.
He said that holding such events comes in line with the media strategy for promoting Egypt's tourism, which mainly aims to highlight the tourist destination.
He also pointed out that holding this event in Egypt will contribute to attracting more Italian tourists, especially opera lovers, to visit Egypt's archaeological destinations.
It is worth noting that the Teatro San Carlo is the oldest continuously active venue for opera in the world, having opened in 1737, decades before either Milan's La Scala or Venice's La Fenice.
