The Israeli military and the Shin Bet said they had killed two Hamas commanders in separate airstrikes in northern and southern Gaza.
According to a joint statement, an airstrike carried out two days earlier in northern Gaza killed Ahmed Yahya Ibrahim al-Batsh, whom Israel identified as the commander of a Hamas elite unit. The military said he had directed operations against Israeli forces during the war.
In a separate strike on Monday in southern Gaza, the Israeli military said it killed Hamouda Abu Daqqa, whom it identified as a commander in Hamas' military intelligence unit. According to the statement, Abu Daqqa was responsible for gathering intelligence on Israeli troop movements to support attacks against Israeli forces and was considered an immediate threat.
