Egypt dispatched its 230th humanitarian aid convoy to the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, with trucks carrying food, medical supplies and other relief items as part of ongoing efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave.
The convoy, operating under the banner "Zad Al-Ezza... From Egypt to Gaza," crossed through the auxiliary gate of the Rafah Land Port en route to the Karam Abu Salem crossing, where the aid is to be transferred into Gaza.
An official source at the Egyptian Red Crescent said the convoy includes large quantities of humanitarian assistance, including food supplies, food baskets, flour, fresh bread, legumes, canned food, medicines, personal hygiene products, tents, clothing and petroleum products.
The latest shipment comes as Egypt continues to coordinate humanitarian relief for Gaza, where more than two million Palestinians have been affected by the war.
Israeli authorities closed the crossings into Gaza on March 2, 2025, after the first phase of a ceasefire agreement expired and negotiations to extend the truce failed. Israel resumed intensive airstrikes on March 18, 2025, followed by renewed ground operations in several areas of the enclave.
The closure halted the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, shelter materials and heavy equipment needed for debris removal and reconstruction. Aid deliveries resumed in May 2025 under a mechanism implemented by Israeli authorities and a U.S. security company, despite objections from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which said the arrangement did not comply with established international procedures for aid distribution.
Mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United States led to a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas on Oct. 9, 2025. The second phase of the agreement entered into force on Feb. 2, 2026, allowing displaced Palestinians to return to Gaza and enabling wounded Palestinians to travel to Egyptian hospitals for treatment after the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing reopened.
