The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel had carried out strikes against targets deep inside Iran in response to Iranian missile launches toward Israel, according to a breaking report by Al Qahera News.
Earlier, air raid sirens sounded across several areas in northern Israel following the launch of Iranian missiles. In response, Israel's Home Front Command announced the suspension of classes nationwide as a precautionary measure.
Israeli emergency services reported that no direct casualties were recorded as a result of the missile attack. However, a 79-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries while making her way to a shelter in northern Israel.
In Haifa, municipal authorities announced the opening of all public shelters and Carmelit stations to residents. The city also cancelled all public events and suspended educational, sporting, and cultural activities in accordance with instructions issued by the Home Front Command.
Amid concerns over further escalation, the United States Embassy in Israel instructed all U.S. government personnel and their family members to remain in secure locations until further notice.
