Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the production of the first Nissan Magnite in Africa at Nissan Egypt’s manufacturing facility in 6th of October City, during a visit to inaugurate and inspect many industrial projects across various sectors.
The event was celebrated during a ceremony held at the plant, followed by an extensive tour of the facility by the Prime Minister.
Madbouly said the occasion reflects Egypt’s strategy to deepen and localise manufacturing, particularly in strategic sectors such as the automotive industry. He stressed that the government remains committed to supporting major international companies in establishing and expanding integrated industrial operations in Egypt, helping to transfer advanced technologies, increase local content, and open new export markets that support the national economy and Egypt’s regional ambitions.
Dr Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, stated that the start of production of the new model highlights the attractiveness of Egypt’s investment climate and its ability to attract leading global manufacturers.
Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, described the launch as one of the key outcomes of the National Automotive Industry Development Strategy.
During the ceremony, Eng. Mohamed Abdel Samad, Managing Director of Nissan Africa, expressed pride in the launch of the new model, describing it as a reflection of Nissan’s long-term commitment to the Egyptian market and its support for industrial growth since becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company in Egypt in 2004.
He revealed that the company’s total investments have exceeded USD 276 million at its plant, which spans 104,000 square metres. Nissan produced approximately 30,000 vehicles last year and has expanded its production lines to reach a capacity of 50,000 vehicles annually. The company has also increased local content from 51% to 55% and exported more than 25,000 vehicles in recent years.
