The Government of Ireland announced a 2020 scholarship program for postgraduate students.

The scholarship is fully funded by the Irish ministry of Education and Skills and will be managed by the Irish Research Council.

The Ireland Scholarship for international students is an opportunity for all those who are willing to pursue their Research MS and Ph.D. or Direct Ph.D. (MS leading to Ph.D.).

The program provides outstanding students with the opportunity to direct their own research at the early-career stage, working with a supervisor, in their chosen area of interest. Moreover, the Irish Government welcomes pioneering proposals addressing new and emerging fields of research or those introducing creative, innovative approaches.

It has a success rate of about 18% over the duration of five years.

The Irish Scholarship is unique in the Irish research landscape and complements other channels for fully funded postgraduate education in the Irish eco-system
