HLI Offers Fully Funded Scholarship for Study in San Diego Univ.

The Hansen Leadership Institute 2020 in the USA formerly known as the Hansen Summer Institute for Leadership and International Cooperation announced that it will host its next group of leaders in July 2020 at the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego.

About the Institute's objectives and scholarships:

  • The Hansen Leadership Institute is an exciting summer exchange program funded by Fred J. Hansen Foundation. The Hansen Student Exchange Program provides a unique leadership program, leadership skills and amazing experience in International Cooperation and Conflict resolution.
  • For three weeks each July, twenty-five young women and men from regions of conflict and the United States come together on the campus of the University of San Diego for this life-changing program. They join a family of Hansen Alumni who continues to remain in close contact through a variety of media and social networking sites.
  • The Institute completed its 10th Summer Program in July 2019. It is going to present its 10th HLI Fellowship Group on the new website hansenleadershipinstitute.org , starting October 2019.
  • A primary goal of the Hansen Leadership Institute is to create an international community of young scholars who will use their summer experience as a foundation for creating lasting friendships and acquiring common practical skills and training for the creation of a more peaceful future.
  • Hansen Leadership Institute training aims to provide students with a “leadership toolbox” for resolving conflict and building a better future for their respective countries and across the world.

The scholarship program includes:

  • A very interactive training with latest techniques of conflict resolution, mediation, and intercultural dialogue and management.
  • Classroom training complements local excursions to San Diego historical attractions and cultural events, including but not limited to Balboa Park, Sea World, a Fourth of July parade, harbor cruise and a visit to the US-Mexico border.

The scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

- Bachelor students must have completed 2 years of college/university or graduate student.

- Students must be between the ages of 20- 25 on July 1, 2020.

- Must have demonstrated leadership potential outside of the classroom in the community, nation or region.

- Have an academic adviser (recommendation letter) verifying candidates' English proficiency.

- Have a valid international passport. (You can apply for the passport if you don’t have now.)

- Preference may be given to those who have never visited the United States.

Hansen Summer School is fully funded and includes:

- Full meals for the duration of the program and joint rooms with the participants of the same gender.

- Transportation to/from the campus to all meetings and activities.

- Round trip international airfare tickets from the participants homeland to San Diego.

- Student and Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) fee.

- Health Insurance for the duration of the program.

- $ 1000 prize upon successful completion of the program.

Deadline:

The institute started to receive applications since 3 days ago and the deadline is 15th Jan 2020 (International Applicants) March 15, 2020 (U.S Applicants).
