The Irish government said on Tuesday that the decision to recognize the State of Palestine would allow the level of diplomatic representation in Ramallah to be raised to an embassy, according to Cairo News.
Ireland's Foreign Minister, Michael Martin, had confirmed that his country would take concrete steps with Norway and Spain to implement the two-state solution and achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people for self-determination, denouncing at the same time the Israeli attack on a camp for displaced people northwest of Rafah, which resulted in casualties of women and children.
Martin said - in a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, and his Spanish counterpart, Manuel Jose Albarez, from Brussels - that the attack that occurred yesterday, targeting one of the camps for the displaced in Rafah, violates international law.
