Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ahmed Al-Mubarraq launched the celebrations of Iraq’s National Day on Friday morning with a grand event at the capital’s main ceremonial square. The occasion, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, transformed into a vibrant youth carnival filled with joy, enthusiasm, and a wide public turnout that reflected a strong spirit of unity and belonging.
The highlight of the day was the National Day Marathon, which brought together hundreds of young men and women in a symbolic gesture to showcase sports as a bridge of communication among Iraqis and as a message of peace and love from Baghdad to the world.
In his address, Minister Al-Mubarraq emphasized that Baghdad will always remain a city of peace and life, rejecting violence and hatred. “This marathon unites Iraqis in their love for the homeland and reflects the vitality of our youth and their determination to shape a brighter future,” he said.
The minister further noted that the role of his ministry has expanded beyond its traditional association with football, transforming into a home for youth and their ambitions. “Our aspirations are as vast as great Iraq itself. We must strive to make our country one of the best in the world through the strength and dedication of its young people,” he added.
