Iran Confirms 3 New Coronavirus Cases Following Death of 2 Patients

The Iranian Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that three new cases tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) following the death of previous two cases of the new virus in Qom and one person in Arak cities, bringing the total of confirmed cases to five in Iran.

Meanwhile, the Iranian government has suspended schools, universities and higher education institutes in the city of Qom due to the rapid out breaking of the new coronavirus.

On the other hand, Iraqi citizens staged peaceful protests, urging  the government to close border crossings with Iran, halt all flights from and to Iranian cities after the deadly virus outbreak in Iran.

It is noteworthy that Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population and World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Wednesday that the foreigner who was thought to be carrying the new coronavirus in Egypt has tested negative for it.The Health Ministry’s spokesperson Khaled Megahed said that a medical team has been conducting periodic checks and analysis on the Chinese national.

He added that a “PCR” analysis was conducted six times over three consecutive days, under the supervision of the Health Ministry and the WHO, with negative results in each time.

On his part, Dr John Jabbour, WHO Representative in Egypt confirmed that all measures taken to monitor this case were carried out in full coordination with the WHO and in accordance with its scientific and technical guidelines, especially with regard to laboratory procedures.

He also added that the case will remain under observation until the end of the 14-day isolation period.

It is worth mentioning, Liu Zhiming, the director of a leading Hospital in China’s central city of Wuhan, the epicenter of a coronavirus outbreak, died of the disease Tuesday morning, according to state television.

He is the first known hospital director to have died from this deadly virus.

China is trying with all its might to confront the effects resulting from the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, via a series of strong and effective measures that seek to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by this deadly virus.
