Iran Accuses U.S. of Violating Post-War MoU After Latest Strikes

Iran accused the United States on Tuesday of committing major violations of the memorandum of understanding that ended the recent war, following a new wave of U.S. military strikes on Iranian targets.

Senior Iranian negotiator Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf said Washington had breached the agreement through its actions in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian media.

He also said the continuation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon constituted another violation of the memorandum, adding that "the era of bullying and extortion is over" and that Iran would not yield.

Ghalibaf's remarks came after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced it had completed strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military said the operation targeted air defence systems, radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities and dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boats.

The exchange of accusations highlights renewed strains over the implementation of the post-war agreement, with both sides blaming each other for violating its terms.
