Blumhouse released Tuesday new footage from "Insidious: The Red Door", the fifth installment in the Insidious franchise.
The movie takes place ten years after the events of the second movie and sees Patrick Wilson not only returning to the franchise for the first time since his cameo in "Insidious: Chapter 3", but the horror icon will also make his directorial debut with this highly anticipated sequel.
Ty Simpkins is also set to reprise his role as Josh’s son Dalton as well.
The new installment will also star Peter Dager, Sinclair Daniel, and Hiam Abbass.
The will also feature the breakout star and fan favorite character Elise Rainier, a paranormal expert and medium played by the icon of the genre, Lin Shaye. Despite the character's death at the conclusion of the series' first movie, Shaye remained a constant presence within the franchise.
Unfortunately for the Lambert family, it isn't just friendly faces making a comeback, as The Red Door also sees the return of the franchise's most famous supernatural villain, the red "Lipstick-Face" demon.
The new movie will see Josh Lambert (Wilson) dropping Dalton (Simpkins) off at the idyllic college of his dreams out East. When the demons of his childhood come crawling back into their lives, however, it beckons them back to the Further to finally close the door on that horrible chapter of their lives.
As the franchise returns to the present, "Insidious: The Red Door" will see the conclusion of the Lamberts' story with a finale that has been a decade in the making.
The idea of the Lamberts' new nightmare came from Wilson. The movie is written by Scott Teems, who co-wrote Halloween Kills, from an idea from franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell.
The Insidious franchise launched in 2010 and was the first collaboration between director James Wan, Whannell, and the horror-loving Blumhouse.
"Insidious: The Red Door" hits theaters on July 7 and will mark the first time the franchise has been on the big screen in five years.
