Egypt is accelerating the development of its industrial sector through expanded manufacturing capacity, infrastructure investment and export-oriented policies, according to an infographic released by the Ministry of Industry, the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), and the Cabinet. The infographic shows that the country has 152 industrial zones, 17 industrial complexes dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises, and more than 190,000 industrial establishments operating across a wide range of manufacturing sectors. Total investments in industrial infrastructure have exceeded EGP 1 trillion, while the sector provides employment for more than 3.5 million people.
The infographic highlights engineering industries, food processing, chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and garments, building materials, automotive manufacturing and pharmaceuticals as the country's key industrial sectors. It also notes that Egypt's industrial base is supported by an integrated logistics network linking factories to 19 commercial seaports, logistics zones and dry ports. Officials say current priorities include increasing industrial exports, expanding local manufacturing, attracting foreign direct investment, strengthening industrial localization and promoting high-value production in line with the goals of Egypt Vision 2030.
