Infographic | Egypt Highlights Light Rail Transit Network Expansion

Egypt is continuing to expand its modern transportation infrastructure through the Light Rail Transit (LRT) network, according to an infographic highlighting the project's key figures. The network extends 103.3 kilometers and includes 19 stations linking Greater Cairo with several new urban communities, including the New Administrative Capital. Trains operate at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, while the system is designed to accommodate more than 500,000 passengers daily.

The infographic also notes that the LRT connects major destinations including Adly Mansour, Obour, Mostakbal City, El Shorouk, Badr, the New Administrative Capital, the City of Arts and Culture, and 10th of Ramadan City. Monthly passes offer discounts of up to 50%, while the project aims to reduce travel times, ease traffic congestion, promote sustainable public transportation and improve connectivity between Greater Cairo and Egypt's rapidly expanding urban developments, according to the Ministry of Transport and the National Authority for Tunnels.
