India’s Embassy in Cairo Felicitates Winners of World Hindi Day Competitions

On the 23rd of February, the Embassy of India in Cairo marked World Hindi Day with an event at the Cairo Opera House.

As part of world Hindi Day celebrations, the Indian Embassy in Cairo organized competitions pided into various categories, in which many Egyptian students participated.

Winners of the World Hindi Day competitions were awarded medals and certificates by the Indian Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. Ajit Gupte, and the head of the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), Mohamed Hisham.

The event that took place in Hnager Cultural Hall at the Cairo Opera House featured marvelous musical and dance performances, in addition to poetry recitations by Egyptian students. The Indian bands also performed classical and Bollywood dances.

 The competitions were held in the following categories: Hindi Handwriting (Senior and Junior levels), Hindi Extempore Speaking (Senior and Junior levels), Hindi Picture Writing (Senior and Junior levels), Hindi Essay Writing (Senior and Junior levels), and Hindi Poetry Writing (Senior and Junior levels).

Besides, Urdu Handwriting (Senior and Junior levels), Urdu Picture Writing (Senior and Junior levels), and Urdu Poetry Writing (Senior and Junior levels).

It’s worth mentioning that Hindi is the third most spoken language in the world, the mother tongue of around 340 million people and the official language of India. Outside India, Hindi and its derivatives are spoken in over 20 countries.
