India has summoned the US Chargé d’Affaires in New Delhi to protest an attack on a vessel operating off the coast of Oman, according to reports cited by Reuters.
The move reflects growing diplomatic tensions following the incident, which has raised concerns over maritime security in the strategically important waters of the Arabian Sea and the Gulf region.
Details regarding the nature of the attack, the vessel involved, and the reasons behind India’s protest were not immediately disclosed.
Indian authorities have yet to release an official statement outlining the specific concerns raised during the diplomatic engagement. Likewise, the United States has not publicly commented on the reported summons.
