Egypt’s trade exchange with the Democratic Republic of Congo reached $461.6 million in 2025, compared with $679.1 million in 2024, according to data released by Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Egyptian exports to the Democratic Republic of Congo totaled $14.2 million in 2025, down from $17.2 million in 2024.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s imports from the Democratic Republic of Congo amounted to $447.4 million in 2025, compared with $661.9 million the previous year.
The main Egyptian exports to the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2025 included:
Electrical machinery and equipment: $4.4 million
Iron and steel products: $1.9 million
Processed vegetables and fruits: $1.6 million
Plastics and plastic products: $1.2 million
Other miscellaneous goods: $5.1 million
Egypt’s imports from the Democratic Republic of Congo were largely concentrated in metals, led by:
Copper and copper products: $445.8 million
Tin and tin products: $1.3 million
Miscellaneous goods: $300,000
Remittances from Egyptians working in the Democratic Republic of Congo reached $8 million during the FY2024/25 fiscal year, compared with $2.4 million in the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, remittances from Congolese workers in Egypt totaled $1.5 million in FY2024/25, up from $1.2 million in 2023/24.
Congolese investments in Egypt rose significantly, reaching $3.4 million in the FY2024/25, compared with just $36,000 the previous year.
Egyptian investments in the Democratic Republic of Congo totaled $11.8 million in 2024/25, compared with $17.6 million in 2023/24.
Population figures showed Egypt’s population reaching 109.1 million in June 2026, while the Democratic Republic of Congo’s population stood at 116.2 million during the same period.
The number of Egyptians residing in the Democratic Republic of Congo was estimated at around 2,000 people by the end of 2024, according to diplomatic mission estimates.
