As part of the sixth stop of his major cultural tour across Italy, world-renowned archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass was a guest of honor in the ancient city of Acqui Terme. A massive public lecture was organized by the Regional Governor and the City Mayor to celebrate his visit.
The lecture saw an extraordinary turnout of over 1,000 attendees, including Italian citizens, intellectuals, and Egyptology enthusiasts. During the event, Dr. Hawass showcased the latest archaeological discoveries in Saqqara and Luxor. From the heart of the Italian city, he issued a powerful call for international support for the global campaign to repatriate smuggled Egyptian antiquities—most notably the "Bust of Nefertiti" from Berlin, the "Rosetta Stone" from the British Museum, and the "Dendera Zodiac" from the Louvre. He emphasized that these artifacts are an integral part of Egyptian national identity and must return to their original home at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
Furthermore, Dr. Hawass extended an open invitation to the Italian people to visit Egypt, stating that the country is safe and welcomes all admirers of civilization. He noted that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum will be the most significant cultural event of the 21st century.
Following the lecture, hundreds of attendees lined up for a book signing session for Dr. Hawass’s latest publication, reflecting the immense passion for the secrets of the Pharaohs. The Mayor of Acqui Terme and the Regional Governor expressed their pride in hosting Dr. Hawass, affirming that his presence serves as a strong cultural bridge between the Egyptian and Roman civilizations.
Dr. Zahi Hawass is scheduled to head next to the city of Bologna , the **seventh stop in his ongoing Italian tour, to continue his series of lectures and promote Egyptian tourism and heritage.
