Iconic Artist Nelly to be Honored at Cairo Int’l Film Festival

On Sunday, the Cairo International Film Festival will pay special tribute to Egyptian star Nelly, as she was selected to receive the 43rd Golden Pyramid for Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Egyptian iconic actress, singer, and dancer Nelly has starred in around 118 different projects, ranging from cinema, theatre, and television.

Born in 1949 in an artistic family, Nelly started her career early at the age of four, playing ‘Mona’ in the movie ‘Deprivation’ beside Imad Hamdi. She quickly became a favorite talent, appearing in ‘Birds of Paradise’, ‘Mercy of Heaven’, ‘Repentance’, and ‘Until We Meet’, and so many more.

She is an Egyptian artist, is one of the most important stars of the Arab World;

Her older sister is the star Fayrouz, who is known in Egyptian cinema as the miracle child", and her cousin is the famous star Lebleba.

She has great talent in singing, dancing, and acting, which ensured her participation in more than 118 different projects, ranging from cinema, theater, and television.

The beginning was at the age of four years when she embodied the role of the child "Mona" through the movie "Deprivation", which was starring the great artist Imad Hamdi, and then continued her works during her childhood, including the movie "Birds of Paradise", "Mercy of Heaven", "repentance", until we meet".

In the sixties of the last century, she began appearing as a young woman in many films, including "The Rioters", "The Little Teenage", "Summer Vacation", and others.

This is in addition to her great contributions to television, where she presented several series, most notably "Al-Dawama", "Mabrouk Galak Weld", "She lived twice", "Bardis", "She is crazy crazy", "One Thousand and One Nights", "Years of Misery and Love".

The series "Qasasis Waraq", which was shown in 2005, is the latest of her till now, but despite her absence from the art scene since that date, we can date most of her life stages through the film and television cameras that stood in front of her since her early childhood.
