Australian actor Hugh Jackman has opened up about reprising his role as Wolverine in "Deadpool 3".

Jackman was last seen as Wolverine in 2017's "Logan", which "Deadpool" star Rayn Reynolds previously clarified won’t be touched as it's way ahead in the timeline.

"It's a lot of fun. It's been five years and I really never thought I'd come back. And I'm really, really excited to come back,” he told the Associated Press.

Jackman was asked about his thoughts on Deadpool 3, he remained ambiguous, however, he shared: "I can tell you I'm going to have the time of my life. I can tell you I've started back at the gym, and I'm eating a lot, and I feel bad for the cast of The Music Man with the amount of protein shakes I'm having."

“I do know a little bit about the script, but I'm not going to tell you."

The actor was then asked whether he would return as a gentler version seen in the X-Men franchise or an angrier version.

“There's no choice. He's definitely angrier, grumpy, and he's gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you. Physically, that is."  he added.

"Deadpool 3", directed by Reynolds’ frequent collaborator Shawn Levy, will premiere on September 6, 2024.

In a new interview with Variety, the actor shared the moment he realized he made a mistake by closing his Wolverine chapter.

“I went to a screening of Deadpool [in 2016]. I was 20 minutes in, and I was like, ‘Ah, d**n it!’ All I kept seeing in my head was 48 Hrs. with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time,” he admits of his decision, years later, to un-retire. “It just took me longer to get here.”

Reynolds has been discussing the possibility with Marvel boss Kevin Feige since Disney first acquired Fox.

Afterward, Reynolds daily hounded Jackman to star in "Deadpool".

“I think, actually, he’d given up. I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, ‘I can’t believe the timing of this'," Jackman recalled.

Reynolds immediately revealed the news at his next meeting with Feige, and the rest is history.
