Huawei announced on Friday, that a new smartphone operating system and greater harmony. The new system which called “Harmony OS”, was introduced by CEO Richard Yu at a Huawei conference in Dongguan, southern China.

''Yu'' reported the new system was a future oriented OS to be more smooth and secure, as well as he was completely different from Android and iOS. The OS is micro-kernel based, just like Google’s rumoured Fuchsia OS.

Huawei Group has repeatedly publicly expressed its intention to replace the Android system with a system it is developing, but asserts that it was forced to do so because of US sanctions.

'Harmony OS' is intended to run on computers, tablets and other devices. Huawei may lose access to Android because the company was blacklisted by US President Donald Trump, citing security concerns.

Noteworthy, Huawei, the world's second smartphone group, found itself in May amid a trade war between Beijing and Washington over technological competition.

The company would have been able to ship 300 million smartphones this year without such restrictions. It shipped 118 million units in the first-half.

On other hand, the company confirmed that the work on the new OS began 2 years back and was accelerated in 2019, probably due to the ongoing trade issue between the US and China. it plans to release version 2.0 of the micro-kernel next year which will be followed by version 3.0 in 2021.
