Sada ElBalad English website "See"  has conducted an interview with Minister counselor for economic affairs at the Chinese embassy in Cairo Han Bing. The diplomat tackled different fields where Cairo and Beijing are cooperating to cement their bilateral relations.

Here is the excerpt of the interview.

Ongoing talks between China and Egypt on Cars’ production

“Chinese automotive firms are holding talks with a number of Egyptian ministries including: Military production, and Trade ones,” Mr. Han said. ”There are also talks between Chinese companies and some private corporations for cars’ production.”

“No decision has been made yet in this regard,” the Chinese diplomat said. “We hope that some good results will come out of these negotiations”.

China-Egypt TEDA zone

“The works in The Egyptian-Chinese Industrial Zone (The TEDA zone) in Ain Sokhna, are developing well; the first phase has already been completed on an area of 1.34 square km,” the Chinese official confirmed.

He confirmed that the project is proceeding under an umbrella of a well-planned scheme. “At the end of the next year, we will see a completely different image of TEDA zone."

“The real problem facing the project is the lack of labor force,” the counselor stressed. “Thus, small cities should be established with all public services like: hospitals, schools, so that people can live there to support this industrial zone.”

China-US Trade Frictions

Han stressed that the trade issues aroused recently between China and USA are referred to as a “Trade war”, yet he prefers to call it “Trade frictions”, as frictions could be solved through negotiations, but war can damage the interests of both countries.

“The USA side initiated such frictions with excuses of huge trade imbalance, claiming that china has stolen technology from it”, Han said.” These frictions will not only negatively affect the USA but the whole world as well.”

He continued on to say that such excuses are not justified.

“The USA blames China for developing their own industries under a well-industrial strategy,” Han explained.

“Concerning the trade in services between China and USA, we will see the huge surplus from the American side,” he continued. Moreover, the Chinese counselor said that  American administration has put many restrictions on the export of high-tech products from the US to China.

“The trade between China and the US under a free economic base would benefit both,” Han confirmed.

Huawei and The US Ban

“USA has accused Huawei of stealing the ISO Technology, claiming that Huawei 5G technology is not safe,” Han said. “This is ridiculous, as China has applied for roughly 34% of the world’s major 5G patents, compared to only 14% for The U.S.".

“Concerning safety, studies are being carried out on Huawei software in UK and German security centers, yet no problem has been found so far,” Han said. “The ban imposed by US on Huawei will not have a fatal influence, as Huawei has its own technology, and own phone chips”.

“Next Autumn, Huawei will launch its own operating system”, Han revealed. "It will be 60% faster than the android one."

"The cooperation between Huawei and Egypt has a bright future," Han said.“Huwaei has already made great contributions to the Egyptian ICT”.

He continued on to say that Huawei has opened several operational centres in Egypt, and it has  offered very good training courses for Egyptian talents.

“Once you have a Huawei Phone; you are enjoying the latest technology," Han confirmed.
