HBO has unveiled the official trailer for the second season of the "Game of Thrones" spinoff "House of the Dragon".
The fantasy drama series is based on author George RR Martin’s 2018 novel "Fire & Blood", set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
It chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Audiences have been eagerly awaiting any news on the upcoming season as the first season of episodes of the Game of Thrones prequel series was a major success.
The first season of House of the Dragon left several cliffhangers including the death of Princess Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) son, Prince Lucerys (Elliot Grihault), and the reveal that Dragonstone has more budding dragons than we initially thought.
With Lucerys’ death, the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons has officially kicked off with Rhaenyra stepping forward to claim her rightful place on the Iron Throne.
Many favorites will be returning in the upcoming alongside some new-to-the-fold faces.
Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Ewan Mitchell, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Rhys Ifans, and Tom Glynn-Carney all are expected to reprise their leading roles.
It will also feature Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Phia Saban, and Harry Collett.
Season 2 of the fantasy drama series even more dragon warfare, as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower’s forces go head to head — well, dragon to dragon.
The trailer shows Daemon Targaryen suiting up in his impressive armor, knights on horseback, soldiers burning alive, and several of the main cast riding their dragons into battle.
While Season 1 co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnick will not be returning for the second telling of House of the Dragon, he will serve as an executive producer alongside universe creator and author George R. R. Martin and Condal.
Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis, and Sara Hess will also be a part of the executive production team.
Season 2 of "House of the Dragon" will premiere in the early summer of 2024.
